As a documentary photographer, I capture socio-cultural topics that I explore on a personal level. I am curious about how humans are able to adapt to their environment. How are we shaped? And what challenges do we face along the road?
My photography is characterized by highlighting ordinary everyday actions. I focus on the details and get close to my subjects. With the use of my camera I step into a world that intrigues me and gives me the opportunity to understand and be somewhere I otherwise wouldn’t be part of.
I am currently working on a project about children at boarding school. I am exploring what life is like for these children, told from the child’s perspective. What is it like to partly grow up without parents? Who am I without my parents? Who am I within the walls of the boarding school? And finally, where do I feel at home? I aim to present these young lives seen through my lens. That lens is subjective as I, too, spent time at boarding school.
